Ian Musa, Senior Data Quality Analyst: Turning noise into trusted data

I'm Ian. I make the numbers leaders act on numbers they can trust. Fourteen years across quality assurance, international standards compliance and operations leadership, now focused on data governance, KPI reporting and root-cause analysis for teams in the US, UK and beyond.

Three disciplines, one standard

Data analytics is the core of the work. Graphic art and mobile-first design are how the findings reach people: visual, on-brand and readable on the phone in their hand.

Numbers leaders can act on

I build dashboards and recurring reports that turn operational data into clear actions for leadership, and I profile, validate and reconcile the data underneath so the numbers hold up.

  • Data quality: profiling, validation and reconciliation
  • KPI definition, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Trend analysis and root-cause findings
  • Governance: standards, owners and controls

Bad data is loud.

Good data is quiet. You only notice it when it is gone.

Every dashboard is a promise.

One clean record, one fixed root cause, one standard at a time.

Quality is a habit, not an audit

I make data trustworthy enough to run a business on.

For fourteen years I've worked where errors are expensive: compliance audits on manufacturing floors, escalations for global technology brands and, today, enterprise data that leaders rely on. The method never changes. Trace the root cause, fix it at the source, then build the control that keeps it fixed.

As a Senior Data Quality Analyst I lead quality initiatives across internal systems and external partners. I set the standards, resolve the discrepancies and turn the findings into insight that compliance teams and decision-makers can act on.

A computer science foundation gives me the technical depth. Six years of professional writing mean the conclusions reach executives in language they read to the end.

From noise to signal in six moves

I use the same loop whether I'm auditing a manufacturing plant, calibrating a support team or cleaning a messy dataset: agree what good looks like, measure, find the real cause, fix it, make the fix stick and keep watching.

  1. Scope

    Agree what "good" looks like

Before touching a single row, I sit down with the people who rely on the data and agree on the critical fields, who owns them and the quality thresholds that matter to the business.

  2. Profile

    Measure the baseline

Map the data, the systems and the people who touch it. Set a baseline for accuracy, completeness and timeliness, so improvement can be proven, not claimed.

    In: source extractsOut: baseline scorecard
  3. Diagnose

    Find the real cause

Look for trends and anomalies, then run root-cause analysis so the source gets fixed, not only the symptom.

In: issue samplesOut: ranked issue log
  4. Resolve

    Fix it at the source

Fix the discrepancies with the teams and partners involved, and document what changed and why.

In: ranked issue logOut: corrected data
  5. Govern

    Make the fix stick

Turn the fix into standards, KPIs and recurring reports, so quality stays high after the project ends.

In: change logOut: rules, owners, KPIs
  6. Monitor

    Keep watching, feed it back

Automated checks and regular reviews catch drift early. Anything new goes back to Scope, so the loop keeps improving the data instead of ending.

What I bring to the table

Six capabilities, each traced to real work across quality, compliance, analytics and people.

  • Data Quality Management

I profile, validate and reconcile data across systems and partners, so discrepancies get caught before they turn into decisions.

  • Data Governance & Standards

I define quality standards, ownership and controls, so data stays consistent, auditable and compliant over time.

  • International Standards & Compliance

I write SOPs, deviation reports and audit-ready documentation, drawing on experience with BRC, SGS, Halal and BFAD certification audits.

  • Reporting, Analytics & KPIs

I build dashboards and recurring reports that turn operational data into clear actions for leadership.

  • Root Cause & Process Improvement

I trace problems back to their source, recommend the fix and track that it holds, applying the habits of a QA auditor to modern operations.

  • Customer Excellence & Training

I handle escalations, coach teams and run calibration sessions, drawing on years of supervising frontline support for global tech brands.

A data audit, before and after

A small, messy dataset of the kind every team has. It's synthetic, so no client data. Switch between the raw records and the same records after an audit.
